Interview with Clas!ck

936624_499680333420922_271992053_nLast week I caught up my good friend CP from the Windsor, CT hip hop duo, Clas!ck! Check it out below.

Please tell us your name and what you do in the band.
I’m CP, and I’m one half of ClaS!cK. I rap, sing and write all the lyrics to the songs.

Are you a pizza fan? If so, what’s your favorite thing about pizza?
I am indeed a pizza fan, there’s never a week I don’t have a slice. Pizza is so practical. its literally a perfect meal. Plus you can change it however you want, toppings, sauce types, even down to the crust. Long story short I fuck with pizza.

Is there any special meaning to the band name?
You know, not really. Back when Supreme (an original member of ClaS!cK) was in the group I remember we spent like an hour thinking of a name. We just thought the shit sounded cool, so all we did was change up the spelling, haha.

What do you think sets you guys apart from other bands?
Ultimately I think its the way we think about music and approach song making. We’ve got a lot to say. Plus theres only two of us and occasionally seven when we do a live band version of our songs. You never know what your going to get from us, hahaha.

What’s your songwriting process like?
Well usually we aren’t together when we’re making music. Gary is usually at school sending me demos and ill send him some rough recordings of my ideas for the songs. It really depends, I can sit on an album worth of music for a month and then in one week just hash them out. Personally I try to live life and see whats inspiring me.

Who are some artists that you feel have influenced your sound?
Well, MF DOOM is my favorite rapper hands down. Aesop Rock, Cool Calm Pete, A Tribe Called Quest, Old Dirty Bastard, Quasimoto, At The Drive-In was a huge inspiration, Kid Cudi, Del Tha Funky Homosapien, Stanley Clarke, Jaco Pastorious, Grown Ups, I don’t know, man, a lot of shit. I could go on for days.

Where can people check out your music?
Well we’ve got a new website, all of our content is on there. We’ve got a Facebook and our Twitter.
