This week’s Mixtape Monday playlist, “Summer Jams” includes songs that play an important part in some of my fondest of memories. From jumping on the trampoline, blasting z100 when I was 9 and not understanding the far-from-age-appropriate rap songs but still appreciating the beat, to a few years later when I discovered Say Anything’s “…is a real boy” and connected with the lyrics while embarking on long bike expeditions at the shore, and to recent years where my view on music expanded and I learned to embrace a plethora of new genres and styles. These are the songs that decided to plant themselves in my ears during the summertime, and I will forever cherish the way that they have blossomed and mean so much to me now.
