It’s February 15th, also known as the day after Valentine’s Day, also known as the day the value packs of heart-shaped Reece’s Peanut Butter Cups go on sale for at least half off and every drug store in the country. March 18th marked the debut show of Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba taking Tom DeLonge’s spot as Blink 182 vocalist/guitarist since his departure in January earlier this year.
Due to commitments to play Travis Barker’s Musink festival in Orange County, California, Skiba joined the band shortly after and have been rehearsing rigorously for the past month. Continue reading First Videos emerge of Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba playing with Blink 182
Last night fans were torn two ways as to who was telling the truth with the situation of DeLonge’s position with Blink 182. The initial statement from the band read:
“Matt Skiba of the Alkaline Trio will join Blink-182 in replacement of Tom DeLonge at the 8th annual Musink Music and Tattoo festival. “We were all set to play this festival and record a new album and Tom kept putting it off without reason. A week before we were scheduled to go in to the studio we got an email from his manager explaining that he didn’t want to participate in any Blink-182 projects indefinitely, but would rather work on his other non-musical endeavors.” Travis Barker and Mark Hoppus plan to honor all Blink-182 commitments including the Musink Festival and are excited to have singer/guitarist Matt Skiba join them for this project. “No hard feelings, but the show must go on for our fans.” Additionally, Skiba will continue to make new music and tour with the Alkaline Trio.”
