Live Review: NOFX & Alkaline Trio – 02 Academy Leeds

For the second of two nights, the triple bill of US Punk Giants shook the roof of the 02 Academy in Leeds. With four of the most distinctive voices in punk, the UK crowds were in for one of the most anticipated punk tours in recent years.

Staff Favorites of 2014

As 2014 comes to a close, I look back on how amazing The Daily Slice’s first year has been. We’ve interviewed some amazing artists, started important conversations, and shed light on some incredible music. I’ve been fortunate enough to work with the best staff I could have ever asked for, and, if you couldn’t tell, our taste in music as a group is kind of all over the place.

As we ring in the new year, and prepare to start our second year as a team (including some brand new members!), we want to show all of you the diversity of our musical preferences by sharing our favorite songs of 2014 with you. Check them out below, and let us know your favorites in the comments!

Thank you for a great first year as a site, and I can’t wait to share our plans for 2015 with all of you. Happy New Year!

Album Review: Lagwagon – Hang

Hang - LagwagonCalifornian punk heroes Lagwagon have triumphantly returned with their eighth studio release,  their first full length in nearly a decade. After nine years of touring combined with frontman Joey Cape’s busy schedule with numerous side projects; Bad Astronaut, Scorpios and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes to name but a few. Not to mention starting his own record label (check out One Week Records).

Kicking off the new record is a slow acoustic track that clocks in at under a minute before seamlessly leading into flowing into the second track ‘Reign’ which has a similarly polished sound to their latest release 2005’s ‘Resolve’. Going in full force to say that this is the same Lagwagon that were last heard from all those years ago and managed to demonstrate within two minutes that they aren’t a one trick pony by tackling the slower tracks and the straight up punk anthems.  Continue reading Album Review: Lagwagon – Hang
