If one band was to stand out from the line up during this years Slam Dunk festival (or probably any Slam Dunk for that matter) it would be LA seven piece Mariachi El Bronx. Returning to the UK in only a couple of months (Check out our review of their Huddersfield show in February here).
The day went through quite a shit, going from the manic and impossibly Biritsh antics of Lightyear to the dignified set from El Bronx. Lit up by the afternoon sun, the upbeat songs such as Norteño Lights got the whole crowd into a big dancing mess. With people dragging complete strangers into the mix, it was truly a sight to behold. The Mariachi counterpart to Hardcore Punk outfit The Bronx have released their first video (not counting the lyric video for ‘New Beat’) from their third album Mariachi El Bronx III for the track Wildfires.
Frontman Matt Caughthran wielding a flamethrower in the desert setting to El Bronx Arrows alight is something we didn’t know we needed until we saw it. A fitting video for the band who took the traditional Mexican genre and made it nothing short of badass. Particularly with this latest release which incorporates some moments of electronica (see previously mentioned track New Beat)

The second announcement for Slam Dunk festivals 2015 line-up has been revealed today. Seventeen new bands have been added to this years roster to help welcome the festival back to Millennium Square in Leeds for the first time since the first festival in 2006.
